Yvonne Pearcy, Integrative Psychotherapist
I trained as an Integrative Psychotherapist at the University of Middlesex and Metanoia Institute, one of the largest counselling and therapy training centres in Britain. I have a Clinical Diploma and a MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy. I am registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and a member of the Metanoia Institute, abiding by those organisations’ code of ethics.
I have worked in the field of Psychotherapy since 2000, primarily working with adults within community psychotherapy and counselling services such as Mind, the Cassel Centre and in private practice at Metanoia Institute. I have worked with a culturally diverse client group and with a range of issues inslcuding trauma, sexual abuse, early childhood issues, interpersonal issues, attachment and loss, depression and work related stress.
I also have extensive experience of working with neurodiverse students as well as students on the autistic spectrum in a University setting offering specialist mental health mentoring. My work in Higher Education has included offering short-term counselling to students presenting with complex mental health needs such as borderline personality disorder, anxiety/panic attacks, LGBTQI/identity issues, self harm and bereavement.
My previous work has included working with vulnerable children and young people particularly in the area of Children's Rights, advocating on behalf of children in Public Care and supporting Asylum seeking and Refugee children.
My clinical experience in Local Authority Education, included co-ordinating and delivering targeted school-based therapeutic groupwork to primary school children with a focus on Social and Emotional development. The aim being to support transition, increase self-esteem/confidence and resilience.
